SATURDAY, SEPT. 20 – 5/10 km PT347 (rated 2B/2C): Meet at Matheson Lake, Matheson Lake Park Road, Metchosin V9C 4G9. Registration opens at 9:30 am and closes at 9:55 am. Walk begins at 10:00 am. Contact is Sandy at 250-812-0303.
Pearson College Route
Walk begins from parking lot at Matheson Lake Regional Park, at the end of Matheson Lake Park Rd.
The 5km route (rated 2B) takes walkers through the magnificent forest at Matheson Lake. The 10km route (rated 2C) takes walkers through the forest to Pearson College where the Gray Whale Skeleton can be viewed accompanied by an in-depth article on the whale itself and how it was brought back to the college by students. Along the way we visit a hidden waterfall and stop at the top by the observatory. A hiking pole is highly recommended. Proper footwear is mandatory.
