Thetis Seymour Hill
Thetis Lake Park is a regional conservation area near Langford BC. It was established as Canada’s first nature sanctuary in 1958. Seymour Hill provides great views over Thetis Lakes and surrounding hills. On the top of Seymour Hill is a cairn with a compass rose. A compass rose displays the orientation of cardinal directions, north, south, east and west on a map. Arrows point to the surrounding hills and mountains giving direction, distance and elevation. The views include the glaciated Olympic and Cascade Mountains across the Salish Sea, Mt Baker, Mt Olympus and Mill Hill. The panorama is magnificent for a small elevation gain, 430 ft above sea level. The cairn and compass rose were built in 1968 by the Thetis Lake Sanctuary Association.
The 10km walkers will walk up Seymour Hill to the spectacular view and the Compass Rose. The route also includes the picturesque Trillium Trail, McKenzie Creek Trail and Upper Thetis Lake Trail.
The 5km walkers will take a scenic walk around Thetis Lake.
Pay parking May 1 to September 30. Cost is $4.00 per day.
