RE-ALIGNING YOURSELF
The night sky was black on the tree ladened road, as he trekked on to his destination
The moon could be glimpsed through the trees now and then, stirring his imagination.
An owl was hooting up in the tall trees, as to say,” You are spoiling my hunt! “
But Mike knew that this was a silly idea … he shouldn’t be thinking so blunt.
He had no idea to where he was going, but knew that he needed to walk
This was his time now, to regain his freedom, from all jibber jabber and talk!
Back in the city there was so much chatter, he needed the calmness of night
So here he was, all alone in the dark, and the silence was pleasingly right.
The chaos inside his brain was subsiding, as Mike slowly sauntered along
Peace and tranquility was what he needed, to hear from this midnight song.
Slowly but surely his mind mellowed out, as a night breeze calmly came by
All Mikes emotions now came into balance, while gazing at stars in the sky.
The outdoor silence contented his mood, and the moon lit the path he was on
He and his Guardian Angel together, would walk through the night until dawn.
This was the way to align all his chakras and regain his own way of being
He noticed the sun rising over the trees, this walk was welcome and freeing.
Now that his mind was calm and collected, he longed for some fun recreation
He felt content in his body and mind, and he knew there was no limitation.
Mike lived his happy life day by day, and would do what he felt he would need
He had all he cared for, and that made his day, he was happy go lucky ~ indeed!
REMINISCING
We’re sitting at the drive-in theatre and trying to watch this good movie
While a car beside us with hippies in it, were rocking and toking a doobie!
We didn’t mind that weed they were chugging, but the music was kinda loud
“Hey,” I yelled out, ” You’re in the wrong place and also with the wrong crowd! “
A guy with a headband turned and looked, and flicked me two fingers for ‘Peace’
I understood this and shot two right back, and thought of the movie named ‘Grease.’
Back in the 60’s, I too was a Hippie and dressed in the clothes of that style
But now those Hippies, are part of our past, and gone for a good long while.
A cloud of smoke wafted out of their windows and drifted right into our faces
We never noticed until it got heavy, but by then we were off to the races!
That weed was sure potent and got us all high, and that movie… it wasn’t watched
We joined those Hippies and partied away, as that movie… was totally botched!
Because weed’s now legal and not frowned upon, we had a good time that night
But the US of A, hasn’t changed its mind yet, and that really isn’t all right.
Get caught with a roach, and it’s off to jail, and who knows for how darn long
Compared to the States, we’re a Prouder Country, in this I find nothing wrong.
Most Drive-in Theatres are part of nostalgia, but there are still some doing shows
Gone are the days of that speaker on window, and memories of all cars in rows.
Feeling that dew on a warm summer night, just settling upon all those cars
While looking up through the vehicles windshield, and seeing those billions of stars!
DREAM A LITTLE DREAM
Our dreams are one thing that each of us shares, when we are sleeping at night
They will take on whatever they want, some are sad, some happy, some fright!
They usually start when we enter rem sleep and our eyes begin darting about
No one knows what we’ll dream tonight, cause there is no map or no route.
It has been said that when we are dreaming, we’re working out problems at hand
If this is true, then what about nightmares, cause these dreams I don’t understand!
They can be terribly frightening and weird and may cause you to jump wide awake
How can this dream help to solve any problems, and what from this can one make?
I have had dreams that I jump up and fly, something like Kal-El would do
But my flights were slow and I would just soar, up and away … I just flew.
After this dream had come to an end, and I got up from out of my bed
I felt as if I became a new man and my brain was recharged in my head!
When a flying dream happens to you at night, it’s an out of body event
I have had only a few of these dreams, and felt great, the whole day I spent!
This type of dream refreshes my life and makes me contented and glad
So why those nightmares that ruin our sleep, and wake us up — scared and sad?
Good dreams are pleasures, which I really love, that offer us nice thoughts all day
Sometimes a dream is so solid and real, that it stays and just won’t go away.
Dreams are like drive-ins, we visit at night, entertainment in sleep to enjoy
But there is no popcorn or candy to eat, nor people we need to employ!
BESTOWED WITH GIFTS
Through my whole life I had so many gifts, but I never knew where they came from
My parents were not at all gifted like me, and I saw them being rather hum drum.
So many things that I tried I could do, and they came without anyones teaching
I would just try it and think as I did it, and learned it without any breaching!
Nine different gifts I was given to own, and was ready to take on this Earth
I then tried out each and every one, so that I could see what they were worth.
I knew I could cook, could sew and cartoon, as well as cut hair without learning
My singing came easy, guitar took some work, and I was steadily yearning.
The Machinist trade was my only job, but I also could make things from wood.
Whatever I touched with this skill in my hands, I always produced something good.
In two thousand one, I decided to write and these rhymes started coming so free
I never dreamed that this gift would turn me, to this poet without a degree.
Twenty years have gone by like a shot, and I now have one hundred rhymes
These poems I’ve written on so many topics, some funny, some facts of the times.
Those other gifts, I don’t use anymore, but I know them and put them aside
So when that MacGyver comes out to be used, I know where these gifts all reside.
I’ve been an artist most all of my life, and I’m not just bragging to you
Speaking the truth is the way that I live, my nine gifts can prove that I do.
I have been blessed, and continue to write, my poetry straight from my heart
If you have a talent to do something well, you must use it and show us your art!
THE FACT OF THE MATTER
What is the point, when making a point, but no point is actually made?
Words have been stated, but no facts related, leaving the listener betrayed.
To beat around the bush, is not a good way, to get others listening to you
Everyday people would rather hear facts, or your words will sound untrue.
Some folks I’ve heard, just loved to be heard and blabber off without an end
They just can’t see that they’re waisting your time, and gibberish isn’t a trend!
They flap their lips and they wiggle their hips, as if they are starring some movie
But all of their victims who hear jibber jabber, would rather be sipping a smoothie.
An honoured orator, has charisma and knowledge, and a gift of magnetic personality
When they are speaking, their words pull you in, like a magnet to steel actuality.
Lecturing is where these people do best, by teaching those who choose to learn
And with this knowledge, they will become scholars and profit from wages they earn.
Words are worth hearing when given with care, and facts are offered to folks
But also there’s times when we fool around, and tease our friends with some jokes.
When rising to speak, approach the audience and show you’re not a beginner
They say talk is cheap, but when speaking with reason, listeners now hear a winner!
HABITUAL
A habit is something that people allow, to get them to always repeat
Its beginning is simple and barely noticed and quickly becomes a treat.
Then it becomes so constant and normal, you don’t pay attention to it
After some time it becomes so routine, you find that you just can’t quit.
Good habits can help you in your life, but bad ones are never that way
People will tell you to stop doing it, if you don’t, they’ll keep you at bay.
Once any habit grabs hold of you, it will hang on for all that it’s worth
Even though it is mostly useless, it surely will show you its girth.
To try and break one, it’s hard to do, any habit’s a tough little cookie
Try as you may, it keeps coming back, making you feel like a rookie.
You’re beginning to think it’s a hopeless battle, feeling like you can’t win
But where there’s a will, there’s always a way, you must learn how to begin.
The only way to become a winner, is to muster a STRONG willpower
Your brain controls what your body does, and this habit, it will devour.
When you decide, you must not try, just stand your ground … and now DO!
When you stand firm and work your decision, this habit, will now break in two!
An intelligent mind has all of the answers, to every question we’ll ask
It will calculate, solving our problems, performing this wonderful task.
That’s why it pays to learn something new, each and everyday
The more one knows, the more it shows, nasty habits won’t have their way!
THE COLOUR OF LIFE
I’ve often wondered if Life had a colour, what colour should it be?
There are so many of them it could pick, this one I’d love to see.
It is the colour called Emerald green, because it’s so full of vigour
The most vivid green that there could be, for Spring, it pulls the trigger!
Green is the colour that shows us the life, that starts as weather warms
This is that colour we’ve all waited for, after all of those winter storms.
Nothing brings happiness more than this colour, a showing of new life
It helps us forget what we’ve all been through, that cold and nasty strife!
The first growth is green, and then pop the colours, of nature’s lovely rainbow
Those brilliantly coloured flowers in bloom, in our eyes, so brightly they glow!
In Nature’s world, all life starts with green and then comes abundant colour
Life is a show of its colours of light, they’re so radiant, they never get duller.
This is my vision of the colour of Life, and why I feel like I do
No other colour would even come close, this to me is so true.
Green means go, for nature to grow and this is a matter of fact
if Life could be some other colour, I’m sure Mother Nature would act.
WHACKY WEATHER
Today you’re ready to go outdoors and enjoy the whole day exploring
Just as the door closes behind you, suddenly the rain starts pouring!
The weather report said no rain … but it’s raining cats and dogs
The only life that will lounge in this weather, would be ducks and frogs.
Hopefully tomorrow’s a barbecue day, if nature will stop all this rain
Lunch arrives, you’re ready to go, when the wind roars in like a train!
Holy moly, what’s going on? Mother Nature must be upside down
All your plans have fallen through and your smile is now … a frown.
So you wait and contemplate, on what else there is you can do
You can’t trust the weather when it’s wrong, it wasn’t there for you.
If you stay indoors, you’ll be doing chores, and this is not exploring
To sit around and stare at four walls, is wasted time and boring!
Two days go by, in fate’s fickle way, such a waste of precious days
All that you wanted was sun to be shining, with radiant yellow rays.
As you sit and look outside, you’re praying for better weather
Maybe tomorrow things will change, hopefully all for the better.
Morning comes, you look outside, and wow it’s just perfect for you
Mother Nature saw your sadness, and gave you a day you can do.
Good things come for those who can wait, time to go out and explore
Enjoy the sun as it warms all of you, and forget the two days before.
WHAT TOPS EVERYTHING ELSE?
Many people who have their own business, work hard and long for success
An honest day’s work always pays in the end, but not healthy to do in excess.
Setting a goal and pacing one’s self is the proper way things should proceed
Making plans and thinking things out will produce the quality you need.
Multitasking is one way of working that many folks would like to master
But they don’t realize how tasking this is, till their health ends up in disaster!
The body and mind can cope with so much until it no longer can handle
All the demands that it’s dealing with, like burning both ends of a candle.
I have friends that run their own shops and to them money’s first in their mind
They don’t take time to eat the right foods and treat themselves really unkind.
Little for breakfast, fast food for lunch and cheap snacks till they are done
When you’re not healthy, it’s hard to perform and business is tough and no fun.
Without good health…nothing else matters, not money or what it will buy
Even the rich, when they are unhealthy can’t spend and won’t even try.
Health has always been number ONE, we must understand this is true
Everything else will now fall into place and is waiting ahead just for YOU!
LIVING HIS DREAM
As he stood there and watched waves caressing the beach, his mind was aglow in thought
Nothing else mattered but the sound of the ocean, giving tranquility to nostalgia it brought.
The seabirds were soaring on the warm rising air and they seemed full of joy as they flew
Couples were casually strolling along, skipping stones across the ocean’s deep blue.
Alan would come to this beach many times to share in what nature would present
No one that came here was ever in a hurry and its beauty never needed augment.
The hills up behind were all lushly treed and the leaves would whisper their song
As the sun poured its warm summer heat on the shore, nothing could ever be wrong.
Colourful sailboats were skimming along on the warm breezes nature was giving
Those who were here, seemed so happy with life, it made Alan’s life worth living.
No other place on this Earth ever gave him the peace and the love like this beach
It was simple and plain, as all could see, yet it taught him what no school could teach.
He would saunter along this sunlit beach and pick up nice shells that were there
Sometimes the seagrass would tangle his feet, but he smiled and showed no despair.
This was his time and his place in the sun, as he walked in his positive way
Everything here was made to be here and that’s how it always must stay.
To Alan this kind of contentment was needed to keep his mind level and strong
Here was no noise, no clatter of traffic, just serenity’s most beautiful song.
Go to a place such as this where you live and see for yourself what he saw

BEAUTIFUL BRITISH COLUMBIA
Sipping from his super slur-per, Jack had reached his fill
In the can he tossed that jug and went to pay his bill.
He was ready now to go but didn’t have a direction
To the right he made his move, with no need for correction.
Street after street passed him by as he strolled steadily on
Walking and breathing the West coast air, in the early dawn.
Preventative maintenance was his way, to maintain his health
Nothing else was as important, not material goods or wealth!
Now along the coastal path, the view was such a pleasure
Seabirds flying all around while waves brought nature’s treasure
Always new things on the beach, just lying on the shore
Everyday brings something new for those who seek to score.
Mostly drift wood will be found but also things that will float
Probably items from some fishing trawler or a pleasure boat.
Along the way he saw some movement and out popped a seal
This for Jack, just topped his day, to see one here that was real.
Over the water an eagle was swooping ready to grab its snack
In a split second, it was snatched, with the speed of a whip’s ‘CRACK’!
Up ahead came the sound of crows fighting, maybe over some food
What a racket they were making, to his ears it bordered on rude.
His morning walk made him feel great and gave him the zest to live
British Columbia was now his province and always was here to give.
Nowhere else that he previously lived, had made him feel so blessed
He never dreamed that BC would give him…. MORE, than all of the rest!
QUALITY OF LIFE
Everyone here on Earth must know, that what we eat, we are
Garbage in equals garbage out and our health depletes by far!
Proper food gives real nutrition that every cell needs to grow
Healthy food is so truly essential, for all of the people to know.
TV ads promote so much junk, and it makes our kids addicted
Many adults seem oblivious to this, till health becomes restricted.
By then the damage has begun, their immunity loses its power
Colds, the Flu and obesity rise, as we live and see these flower.
Having good food, always makes the difference, in our quality of life
It benefits every boy and girl, and those who are husband and wife.
Moderation in what we ingest, will help us maintain proper health
This is so true and more necessary, than material goods or wealth!
Too much red meat is not at all healthy and less is far better than more
Organic veggies are boldly nutritious, and always rate higher in score.
The better one eats, the healthier one lives and the happier you will be
Diseases and sickness cannot afflict you and you may live illness free!
Along with nutrition, ones body must move, so find a workout you’ll do
Cause if you don’t use it…you surely will lose it and this is certainly true!
It pays to look after yourself when you’re young, call it preventative care
When one feels great, you won’t hesitate to participate and be aware.
Think about the choices you make and do what your body is craving
Eat those vegetables mostly raw and your health you’ll really be saving.
No one on Earth can live forever… but to live well, is how we must strive
That’s the way we all should adjust, to stay vibrant, well and survive.
STRESS AND WORRY
When hardships come, as they do, our head goes in our hands
This won’t be a time of joy, like lying on palm covered sands
Tough times happen to us all, no matter how hard we resist
Stress and worry will soon arrive, and these two may persist!
Stress is something we don’t need and worry is the other
Worry is a useless thing and makes one’s heart just flutter.
Inflammation grows from stress and this will make one ill
Cortisol will now be flowing, and makes you sicker… still!
These two negatives must be dealt with, or we won’t be healthy
Stress and worry, they don’t care, if you are poor or wealthy.
I have learned to train my mind, to counteract these woes
I won’t let them torture me, I deflect them with mental blows!
Don’t let stress affect your health, make it bounce right off you
Worry does not help a thing, it makes you sad and blue.
These two brothers sit and wait, to find where they can propagate
Strong willpower helps you now, move forward as you navigate.
When bad things happen in my life, I won’t sit and worry
I’ll use my brain and think this out, and stop it in a hurry.
This way there’s no muss or fuss and everything turns good
The mind is now in perfect balance, working like it should.
PEACE TO US ALL
The moon was full on this summer night, as I gazed up at all of those stars
I laid on my back and relaxed myself, enough that my vision saw Mars.
I adjusted my eyes to a cluster of stars, that the gazers call the Big Dipper
The sky was ablaze with pulsars and nebulae, one shaped like a lady’s slipper.
My eyes became weary as time passed on by, so I got up and went for a stroll
The night was warm, the weather was great, and joy permeated my Soul.
A simple walk on a Summer night, with no worries to contemplate
Just sauntering down this moonlit path, and no problems to escalate.
Being at peace with myself in my world, I felt so content and alive
My heart beat a rhythm of total delight and no sadness my mind could contrive.
I slowed my cadence to smoothen my pace and I flowed like a trickling stream
My thoughts were calm, my head was clear and my night just became a dream.
I felt as if I could walk on and on, and that moon just kept lighting my way
Warm Summer nights make me feel so calm, as it mellows my upcoming day.
The crickets were chirping out in the grass, as a warm breeze caressed my face
Everything was as it needed to be … wispy clouds draped the moon like lace.
In today’s world it is hard to find peace, with all of the stress we endure
Meditation will give us release from this problem, and this is a given I’m sure.
I do possess a strong willpower, and believe I’ve been given this Gift
If only I knew how to teach this to others, my brain, to high gear I would shift!
You won’t find happiness just anywhere, ‘cause it only exists in our mind
But people keep searching everywhere, hoping one day they will find.
Take a minute and calm yourself and you’ll see where it always has been
Waiting for you to discover its presence and make your life truly Serene!!
AUTUMN-NESS COMETH
Our yellow sun was as bright as could be, on this sweltering September day
The calendar says, Autumn soon would arrive, and it’s only just 2 weeks away.
This summer was hot, although it seemed short, and the Fall is not far behind
This heat will soon have its thermostat lowered and summer will leave our mind.
The summer is nice, but when it’s too hot, it drains all the strength out of you
Lots of liquids are needed and shade is a ‘must’, to do the things that we do.
Being sweaty and sticky, is no fun at all, and a shower’s the next thing we need
When Autumn appears, with its colours in bloom, it’s photography time indeed.
The air is so cool and fresh again and it tempts us to share natures beauty
Soon will come time to enjoy as we harvest, our apples, so crisp and fruity.
Everything ripens once summer has ended and then it’s displayed at fall fair
Rides and games will be at their full tilt, with the smell of good food in the air!
Summer flew by like a speeding projectile, but it will be back when its time
That heat I won’t miss, as it disappears, let’s make 35* Celsius a Crime
Our Sun cools down as the weather changes and everything shows relief
Its time to relax in this comfortable climate and forget all that hot, hazy grief!
Willows Beach will be closed now for swimming, but walkers and joggers will go
Here comes the time to enjoy the outdoors, as those breezes so calmly shall blow.
The trees will flash colours, for all life to view, as Nature displays all her glory
Fall is this season which soon will unfold… Mother Natures, most colourful story.
RESPECT AND TRUST
The longer we humans spend living our lives, the more we will learn how to live
If we had parents that raised us with care, then we will respect and forgive.
Respect is something that must be earned and will be abused if not so
This word is so very seldom shown, to those who deserve it … I know!
When good deeds are truly being done, respect will be earned and be shown
As you are doing the best that you can, your trust is now nourished and grown!
When you’re respected and trusted in life, your reputation precedes you
You won’t have problems getting your needs, cause you are honest and true.
Sure, it’s harder to do things right, and that’s why many folks fail
Greed is so prevalent all over this world, that not much else can prevail!
“The customer is always right”… showed respect, when this was said
But now those words are never heard … I believe that they are dead!
I’ve seen trash cans sitting nearby, but the trash is thrown on the ground
This truly shows people’s lack of respect, for our city and folks all around.
Trust in others is so hard to give, until you have been shown respect
When I show respect, but in turn don’t receive it, this being I will reject!
Our world needs more of what it now lacks, care and change for us all
Be good to another and put out your hand, if they should stumble and fall.
Show your respect to those who have earned it, and you will gain their trust
If everyone did this starting today, we could banish all greed, as we must!
TICK TOCK — QUICK CLOCK
I never can seem to find any time, to really just take my time
The clock is moving so darn fast, to me it’s really a crime.
I wakeup at 7, and next its noon, hey, that’s way too fast
I have my lunch, make my plans and out the door I blast!
I turn around and that sun’s going down, where did all the time go?
It’s almost time to have my dinner, why can’t my day go slow?
The longer I live, the faster time moves, are we both in a race?
Wipe all that grease off the gears of time, slow things down a pace!
When one is busy, the time ticks on by, and everything moves right along
But when you are idle and totally bored, the mind begins fighting King Kong!
Time has a way of controlling our moods and depends on what is at hand
It never stops and just keeps on moving, changing both life and land.
When I was young and learning at school, I never noticed the time
The days went by at a normal pace, like harmony sounding sublime.
When schooling was finished, I turned 18, time then appeared in my face
It started moving quicker and quicker, and was gone without any trace!
I can’t sit by and just twiddle my thumbs, there’s always something to do
Even though time seems much faster than I, I won’t believe that it’s true.
Yes, time does move, but at a fixed pace and I can move faster than that
Once I can figure out how it all works… I will live, all nine lives, like the Cat!
NATURE’S WONDERS
Nature trails come in many lengths and are found outside the city
These pleasant paths meander about, while displaying natures pretty.
Wandering down any charming trail, calms you and opens your mind
They mellow our mood and calm our spirit…relieved from our daily grind.
Those root ladened trails reveal the secrets, of how Earths nature lives
Them furry squirrels and other creatures, are gifts Mother Nature gives!
Many a view has been there to see, by all folks who stroll these trails
When this trail turns, left or right, out may dash chipmunks or quails.
Colourful fungus is growing on trees and those big bushy ferns abound
In any direction you happen to gaze, there is beauty there to be found.
When in season, mushrooms are seen, dotting the sides of the trail
A few are edible but most of them aren’t, and all of them are very frail.
Our Sun shines through the tops of the tress, in shafts of golden light
Which brightens our walk along the trail and makes the day feel right!
Down behind the Tillicum Mall, there’s a short winding riverside trail
It starts at the Gorge and twists through the trees, just like a pigglets tail.
When our Sun shines, my spirit is yearning, to come here and feel the love
Nature is healing when you get its feeling, as calming as seeing a dove.
Nothing else matters, when you are surrounded, by all of the nature you see
Our Earth is amazing, for giving its wonders, and we may enjoy them for free!
A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
Eddy was the only child his mom and dad conceived
His other brother died at birth and little Eddy grieved.
Now this boy is fully grown and knows how to proceed
Doing what he needs to do, to properly succeed.
He gathered information, from every source he could
Learning everything he needed, making his life good.
When one knows just what one needs, life is simplified
All things fell right at his feet, and no, he never cried!
He became a business man and did it with his heart
He never cheated anyone and stayed high on the chart.
All consumers trusted him, with what he had for them
Being honest and trustworthy, he become their GEM!
When quality is what you sell, you shall never lose
People see and patronize, the merchant that they choose.
When you care about consumers, you will be respected
Word of mouth will sell your goods, and they won’t be rejected!
Business is so time consuming, one must keep their cool
When your work becomes your play, you are not its fool.
Life requires lots of work, but when you’re having fun
All things fall right into place, and you will know… you’ve Won!
OUR MOTHER EARTH
Our Sun blazed down upon the Sahara, and the desert, it pleaded for mercy
The heat wouldn’t stop and scorched the dunes and all life remained so thirsty.
The dung beetle rolled its spherical prize while lizards hid under the sand
Harsh is this climate that few will traverse, where the camel is so in demand!
The Amazon works as the lungs of our Earth and creates what life needs to live
But people destroy it for personal use as they take and leave nothing to give.
Humanity is our world’s greatest destructor, no creature on Earth can compare
We carbon based species, know harmonization, but most people don’t seem to care!
The Great Lakes in Canada and U.S.A., are the source of fresh drinking waters
As time passes on, their pollution increases, with hazards to our sons and daughters.
The glaciers are melting and going away and the Polar bears soon won’t exist
With all of these things that we know are coming, we refuse to cease and desist!
Most of our oceans have huge plastic islands, which breakdown and kills what lives
Yet more of this single use plastic is made and the source of pollution it gives.
Plastics by far are the scourge of our Earth and are found everywhere that you look
Gone are the days of chrome bumpers and trims, it’s been stolen by plastic, the crook!
Everyone knows that there’s only one Earth, there is nowhere else we can live
Why can’t we all come together with love and fix her with all we can give?
Our World is a wonder created for life and it needs our respect and good care
Relinquish the greed of material things and start healing our Earth…. if we dare.
TRESPASSING THE FUTURE
The alarm it rings and I arise, get dressed and go out for a wander
In no time flat, I look ahead and see the wild blue yonder!
The sky is on fire as the sun starts to rise, and morning has finally broken
That early bird just got his worm and no humans’ word has been spoken.
My foot mobiles propel me forward, as the earth moves backwards behind me
Up far ahead I can see something coming, my Future … to set my soul free.
The view up ahead is of all the things, that will soon come to be in the now
My eyes are wide open, I gaze at the wonder and wipe the dew off my brow!
As morning progresses, my mind just wanders farther ahead of my being
Thoughts are exploding as dreams of my Future have opened my eyes for seeing!
Happy scenes of fulfilling days, are flashing throughout my mind
I can see all is well as I trespass the Future … forward, not looking behind.
The things I foresee make my life truly mellow, I just want to live forever
