CREATE A SEASONAL MARKETING
Creating a seasonal tie-in is a great way to market a new product or service, or to bring in new customers to buy the products and services you regularly provide. Can you create a new product or service with a seasonal focus or promote a product as a gift? Host a party or open house? Invite clients and friends to your place of business or store, serve refreshments and provide an interesting demonstration or display of your product or service.
Advertise your seasonal product, service or event in Senior Living’s December magazine.
Call before Nov. 15 to book your ad space.
REDUCED AD PRICE – Endorse a charity or non-profit in your December ad and Senior Living will give you the non-profit advertising rate (8+ rate). Senior Living is offering this special pricing in support of charities, many whose funding has taken a significant hit in 2009
MAKING TEXT LEGIBLE FOR YOUR 50+ AUDIENCEWill your ad be passed over by a mature audience?
It's a simple fact: in a nanosecond, an ad will be passed over by millions of people who just can't read small type. And if people can't read an ad, they'll turn the page. It's as simple as that.
That's why size matters.
So do font, contrast and leading when designing advertisements -- and all printed media -- for the 45+ market. These graphic elements can either help or hinder readability, depending upon how they are employed.
Making effective design choices can maximize the reach -- and impact -- of messages communicated in print, and can ensure access to information for all of us as we age.
Everyone over 45 experiences age-related vision loss that makes reading small print and distinguishing colors difficult. These become much more difficult with severe vision loss due to conditions such as macular degeneration.Read these guidelines for Making Text Legible
and insure that your print ads will be noticed and read!
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
In our November magazine, we mention that donations to charities are down on average about 35%. As we approach the Christmas
season, we are encouraging the business community to thank their 2009 customers and, also, endorse a special charity in their December ad. Be sure to book your space no later than Nov. 16.

Form a Publicity Partnership
Setting up joint promotions with other businesses can greatly increase your advertising power and your marketing reach.
Do you know of a non-competing business serving customers in your market? Offer to publicize their products or services to your customers in exchange for them publicizing your services to their customers. This gives you the chance to reach a whole new pool of potential customers, while benefiting from the credibility of your publicity partner.•
If you send out brochures
, include a leaflet and/or business card of another business, which has agreed to do the same for you. •
Offer a reduced price
, special service
, or convenience
if customers buy products from both businesses. •
Collaborate with a complementary business in order to afford larger, more visible ads for print and web
Give joint interviews
or host marketing events together, where you both share your knowledge and promote your product.•
Mention one another's benefits when you speak at local events
or are interviewed by the media.
My husband Bob and I were sitting in Ricky’s restaurant in Cloverdale one morning and I noticed the Senior Living Magazine at the entrance. I am always looking for various avenues to get our tours out to the senior market. I was very impressed with the blend of informative articles, advertising, layout and also the distribution of the magazine. I contacted RaeLeigh, in the sales department and she suggested to go three issues. Being the ultimate skeptic I said no, just one issue. I did get some inquiries on our first ad so I agreed to the two more issues. RaeLeigh was correct when she said that it takes three issues to see results. I know now exactly when the issue is out. Our phone starts ringing. You will definitely see Pitmar Tours in future issues so join Bob and I on one of them and you will see why we are having so much fun.
