 By Marie Bruce I am preparing for a garage sale. People do it all the time and seem to enjoy it but this is my first one ever and I had no idea what it entails. I am living alone now since George died very suddenly last year. For the past few weeks, I have been exploring the idea of moving to a smaller and more manageable living space and the realization has set in that all this "stuff" cannot come with me. George and I were married for 42 years and now I have 42 years of possessions in every nook and cranny of this house. And as is the case with most parents, not only do I have to deal with all of my own belongings, I also have to deal with my children's stored treasures they once thought to keep but now abandoned by the box-load. The idea of a garage sale took hold after I brought 5 boxes of “stuff” to the church rummage sale, donated two more boxes to a friend’s choir sale and weeks of trips to the book bin with bags of books.
