If you enjoyed past events, you will absolutely LOVE this one.

Bring your blue suede shoes and prepare to rock your socks off as Senior Living brings you a taste of the '50s.

Rory Allen, one of North America's best Elvis Presley tribute artists, will bring his amazing vocal talents to this years Senior Expo.  Rory Allen has performed numerous times with Elvis’s actual back-up singers, the legendary Jordanaires (with whom he has recorded) and Elvis Presley’s Imperials.  Rory’s authentic vocals and stunning stage costumes, combined with his energy and audience rapport all add up to a great entertainment package. You won’t want to miss Rory Allen’s unforgettable Tribute to the King at this year’s Senior Expo.

The theme carries throughout the event with a ‘50s classic car show, a car hop café and event staff in poodle skirts and ducktails. Exhibitors are invited to join in the '50s theme with costuming or displays. More details will be provided soon.

2010 SENIORS EXPO - A GREAT SUCCESS!

Senior Living would like to thank everyone who participated in the 5th Annual Seniors Expo on Friday, March 5th, 2010.

It was a great success with so much to see and enjoy. The entertainment was better than ever, prompting plenty of laughter and dancing in place in the audience. The exhibits were fun and fascinating and clearly a lot of information was shared between visitors and exhibitors. Special thanks go to Jill Stefanyk of McAllister Media for coordinating the event on behalf of Senior Living. Thank you to our MC Pat Nichol who kept the crowds engaged throughout the day. A big thank you to volunteers Ann McDonald, Jim Gahr and Budd Stewart, as well as Heather Featherston and the Saanich Volunteers for tirelessly and good-naturedly taking care of whatever needed to be done.

To everyone who participated, whether as an exhibitor, visitor or volunteer, thank you! We’ll see you next year!

Testimonials from 2010 Senior Expo:

• I wanted to let you and everyone at Senior Living know what a great time we had at the Silver Threads booth on Friday. The booth was always busy and everyone was in a good mood. I think it was a very good use of our time and money. Thank you so much for inviting us to once again join in the experience. Edie Copland, Executive Director, Silver Threads Service

• I was very impressed with the event and was glad to be a part of it. For me, it was an opportunity to showcase our service to both the general public and individual retirement residences and home care companies (our biggest clients). I made a list of all the companies I wanted to meet ahead of the show and the event gave me the opportunity to network in one place. I have already decided I would like to participate next year. Bob Hanley, President Healing Hands Elder Care Massage

• Thank you for a wonderful experience. The room was a buzz with eager seniors and the displays were of a high caliber. The displays were emotive, colourful, cheery, and encapsulated the important information people require in the latter years. All in all a great experience. Thank you! Christine Barnhart First Memorial Funeral Services

• The event was great and we were very pleased with our location. It was indeed worth the time and expense. The event appeared to be very well managed with no glitches upon arrival and everything ran seamlessly. The visitors were definitely our demographic and we generated a lot of leads and interest in Somerset House. We are definitely in for next year and would like a similar spot … Lynn Larsen/ Community Relations Manager/ Amica at Somerset House

• Very worth while and enjoyable! Rosalind Scott Executive Director Better Business Bureau

• We had a great time and in fact booked two client appointments right at the show with many more anticipated as we follow up with folks. The organization was great and the biggest improvement was that we had more local folks attending and the traffic flow was more evened out compared to 2009. We will definitely be back in 2011 ! Charles ( Chuck ) Palmer Investors Group

• Thanks so much for getting us in at the last minute.( Organization and management of the event – great) We found it very beneficial and even saw two clients come directly to our office on the same day as the event. Our placement ( by the coat check) was perfect. Everyone that stopped by was pleased to have the information, asked questions and was interested to know more about our services. We felt it very worthwhile being there, would definitely come back next year and would love to have the same location. If your organization ever decides to do something in the Lower Mainland please do let us know. Sarah Curtiss Occupational Health Services Travel Medicine and Vaccination Centre

• This was the best show in the four years that we have been participating!! It seemed very well organized and well attended. We will be participating next year and are requesting a double booth. Thanks so much for a job well done. Kathy Ajas Leasing Manager Ross Place Retirement Residence

• I thought the Active Living Celebration was a very good event. I made lots of new contacts and renewed a number of old contacts. The event was well organized and smoothly run. I would definitely consider attending again next year. Bob Meikle

• We are a non profit agency with limited human resources and funding dollars for marketing. The event is very important to us because it allows us to reach many seniors in one day with little cost. We saw a large number of people at our booth. We were able to give free directories and advice to those who were looking for solutions to their situations. We recruited 4 new volunteers for our programs. We also heard positive feedback about the day from people who were attending for the first time. I felt the event was extremely well managed. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to participate and look forward to next year. Jane Sheaff, Executive Director, Seniors Serving Seniors

• Really enjoyed the 50+ celebration, and was very happy with my jewellery sales. All of the visitors who stopped by seemed to be having a great time and enjoying the show. I never heard one complaint. The show was very well organized and the staff were so helpful, they even offered to carry the display items from my vehicle. Thanks for letting me be part of the show, hope to be there next year. Joyce McDougall, Fashion Abbey

• Victoria Grandmothers for Africa consider this the best of Senior's Living events we have attended, and probably rates right up with any others as well. We had an excellent day as far as both sales and outreach was concerned, and we all enjoyed ourselves. It is obvious that your arrangement of the venue and the general organization is improving every year courtesy of the Seniors Living staff. E.L.Rutherford Victoria Grandmothers for Africa

• I was very pleased with the Celebration. Being a new business it was a great opportunity for me to meet people in the business and also the seniors of course. I would definitely go in next year. Event Organization did a great job, you were most efficient and the volunteers from Senior Living Magazine were also a great help. Thank you for all your kind assistance. Aggie, Catch The Moments

• Thank you for the opportunity of participating in this show. It was successful for us and we would certainly consider doing it again next year. I was amazed at the number of visitors to the show, especially that many of them were from up-island. You did a great job - everything was very well organized and I have no suggestions for improvement. Irm Houle, Vancouver island Trails Information Society

• We at Lake Hill Lawn Bowling Club, enjoyed participating in the Active Living Celebration on Friday March 05, 2010 at Pearkes Arena. This was the first time we have participated, and we will participate again. We got very good value for the money we spent. The staff and volunteers there were very friendly and helpful to us. The music and program were engaging and entertaining, and the arrangement was very satisfactory. Please convey our thanks to all of those people who helped us and contributed to the success of the celebration. Haji Charania, First Vice-President, Lake Hill Lawn Bowling Club

• Thanks for your big part in getting us all together last Friday! It seemed very successful for us in that we became a real presence to those attending and our Driving Miss Daisy services should be getting well known ‘out there’ soon. I found the networking with others that were exhibiting valuable as well. The event seemed very well managed and organized Thanks so much for getting us into our marvelous spot! Heather & Susan, Driving Miss Daisy

• The event seemed well organized to me - a few people commented that they didn't really like that there were so many home support services clustered together when they first got into the show. By virtue of the fact that there were other agencies promoting themselves there it would seem that I wasn't alone in thinking the target audience would be appropriate - but by and large the people through were from the younger end of the 50+ spectrum (some had parents that could benefit from home support) but people were really looking for the sorts of things could do as active seniors. Rob Mason, Call for Compassion
