Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival

This world-class international extravaganza of Scottish arts and culture will include the Victoria International Heavy Events Challenge! Eight of the top highland games athletes in the world (including current and past world champions) will compete over the weekend, including the crowd favourite caber toss! Haggis hurling, tug of war and the kilted mile race are other athletic activities being held. Opening ceremonies each day will feature massed pipebands and highland dancers. There will also be a full sheepdog herding trial on Saturday along with sheepshearing,. The traditional competitions in solo piping/drumming, pipebands, and highland dancing will be held on Sunday with world class participants. The large festival entertainment tent will feature local music bands and entertainers all weekend long. Falconry and swordfighting demonstrations will interest your history sense. Whisky tasting school and the two beer gardens are expected to be fully subscribed. Historical and military displays and demonstrations will explore the Scottish roots of the City of Victoria and surrounding areas. Celtic and Scottish vendors along with traditional and international food concessions. The free kid's entertainment area will have bouncy castles, mini-heavy events, balloon twisting, face painting and "soccer" practice with the Highlanders Football Club. There will also be an exciting Ceilidh (i.e. DANCE) Saturday night!
