House Tour 2011 - Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
South Vancouver Island
Sun. September 11th, 2011
This year the Art Gallery House Tour provides an opportunity to view six unique homes designed for the owners. There is a sophisticated loft, a very modern child-friendly work/live home, two homes designed for now and for retirement living – each quite different in style, a large European style home, and an ultra-modern showcase for today’s materials.
Three homes have direct access to beaches. Setting the Art Gallery House Tour apart from others is the “Art in the Garden” program which sees local artists on-site at each house producing an original artwork. This year’s line-up features paintersAdelle Andrew, Robert Amos, Nixie Barton, Manon Elder, Grant Leier, Joan Pattee and Blu Smith as well as ceramic artist Sam Dickie. In addition, the homes also feature flower arrangements created to complement each home by the Victoria Flower Arrangers Guild.
Since the House Tour began in 1953, sell-out crowds have been inspired by distinctive homes and gardens each year. The House Tour is the single most important annual fundraiser produced by the Associates of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. The funds raised support the mandate of the Gallery which includes the development of education as well as exhibition programming.
Please note that all of the homes this year involve some walking and stair climbing and are not suitable for those with limited mobility. Also, parking may not be close by in some cases.
Children under 12 are not permitted on the House Tour.
