Free Saturday Seniors Forum: Latin America: Examining Beliefs and Traditions

BC Lower Mainland

Sat. October 23rd, 2010 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Latin America is a rich, diverse, and multi-ethnic region with a wide variety of traditions, monuments, and cultural resources. Each reflects the continent's pre-Columbian cultures, colonial and modern societies. In the last 500 years, these differing traditions have interwoven to establish new political systems, societies, traditions, and belief systems. Through an examination of religious traditions from Mexico and Peru, we will better understand the region's diverse cultural compromise, demonstrating the remarkable and imaginative way the populations of Latin America have grown from ancestral traditional beliefs into new forms dominated by Christianity.
