Cedar Farmer's Market Celebrates 15 Years

Celebrations begin May 13

Nanaimo, BC - The Cedar Farmer's Market celebrates fifteen years as one of the premiere, long-standing markets on the island. It has been a long, hard journey though. The market managers have needed to find that special balance between the number of vendors and the amount of visitors needed to sustain that. “It’s been 15 years to overnight success!” comments Geoff Spooner, Market President.

The celebrations begin on May 13 (Mother's Day) with live music from Trinitude, a Tai-Chai demonstration, a live community painting, as well as pie slices and flowers for moms!

This time of year features Farm Fresh Eggs, Chicken Meat, Beef, Pork, cuts and sausages, greens, bread, honey, and the usual blend of jams and handicrafts. Starting this year, the market will benefit from additional vendors, with space for up to 60 tents, plus ample parking in the field. There are more farmers coming from Duncan, who used to go to Victoria to sell their wares.

The Cedar Market has become a destination for not just prime local products, but also for the atmosphere, the live music, and the beautiful location. Musical acts in May are Trinitude (May 13) Bluegrass Fever (May 20) and Dan Moran (May 27).
