About Capital City Volunteers
Our mandate is to help seniors and people with disabilities stay independent in the community by recruiting, training and supervising hundreds of volunteers to help with things like:
• Driving and escorting to medical appointments
• Shopping and errands
• Walking and getting about the community
• Gardening and yard work
• Minor home repairs
• Downsizing and decluttering
• Visiting to relieve social isolation and provide companionship
• Dog walking for those who cannot do this any longer
• Other miscellaneous help
Capital City Volunteers also run a number of social groups for isolated seniors who suffer from depression, anxiety or just have a hard time getting out and are reluctant to join formal groups. We do extensive intakes with new clients and help them find as many supports in the community as possible.
