What's Your Feedback on Our New TV Show?
Hey, did you catch our first show on CHEK TV on Sunday? It was fun sitting back on my couch and seeing the final show all come together in real time. It felt a little surreal. We started our first filming over a year ago and would have started airing in January, but couldn't pull the sponsorships together in time. Just as well, because it gave us time to film some activities and events in 2012 like our own Senior Expo in March, and the BC Seniors Games which just happened last month in Burnaby.
As it stands, we have most of the episodes edited and almost ready to go...the final few episodes are still in raw footage format, needing the combined talents of our excellent producer Daniela Cousin and video editor Jeremy Klassen at Gamut Productions to pull it all together into segments and then episodes.
We've had some amazing people working on this project. Besides Daniela and Jeremy, we've benefited from the professional camera services of David Malysheff. owner of Gamut Productions. The person who has kept the wheels turning, done all the planning and organizing of everyone's time, and remembered all the details, Starr Munro, has been utterly fantastic. When I hired her, I said "Starr, you have to be me! I can't take this on with my current workload running the magazine, so I need someone who can take the broad outline of what I want and run with it." Starr has done just that. She just knows what works and what doesn't and gets to work to make it happen. I have to say that all the people we've had working on this project have stepped up to the plate and taken personal responsibility for pulling this off -- it's been a pleasure working with every one of them.
This coming Sunday, our "Making Fitness Fun" episode catches members of the Cross Canada Cycle Tour Society biking around town, takes a look at some of the senior programs at the various Saanich Recreation activity centres, takes a brisk walk through Victoria's downtown streets with the Garden City Wanderers, and visits the dojo of a martial arts expert who has designed a program for older adults.
If you're wondering whether we just filmed in Victoria, the answer is no. In later episodes we have segments featuring seniors in central Vancouver Island, Salt Spring, and the Lower Mainland.
We'd really like to hear your feedback on the show. WE feel we have a tremendous show, but the real evidence will come from the viewers. Please take a moment to comment somewhere on our website, or email us.
