The Victoria Hospitals Foundation raises funds to support priority medical equipment needs and special projects at Royal Jubilee Hospital and Victoria General Hospital ― Vancouver Island's two largest and most comprehensive hospitals. The generosity of donors enables us to provide funding to our hospitals that contributes to better patient care, faster diagnosis, and more efficient treatment for all Island residents.
Your donations help purchase urgently needed medical equipment — from defibrillators and neonatal incubators to pressure relief beds, to the most advanced medical imaging and surgical tools available. The Foundation consults with the Vancouver Island Health Authority annually to determine the highest priority in medical equipment needs, so we know where your donations will have the most impact.
As a donor to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation, you always have the option of choosing which area of care, hospital, program, or specific equipment item you wish to support. Some donors opt to support to the greatest need, enabling funds to be directed to where they are currently most urgently needed.
Anyone with the desire to give has the ability to leave a legacy to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation. It does not require great wealth; just planned giving. In fact, contributions from planned giving fund one-third of our equipment purchases each year. This is because planned giving allows donors to make some of the largest gifts they ever make.
While many planned gifts are made through a bequest in a will, there are other options such as using cash to create a gift annuity or charitable remainder trust, life insurance, or gifts of property such as stocks or real estate.
A planned gift to our hospitals shows both generosity and foresight. We would be pleased to meet with you and work with you and your professional advisors to ensure your planned gift best suits your needs and wishes while providing the greatest possible positive impact at our hospitals.
We feel honoured to be included in the legacy created by donors, and we are always touched by the thoughtfulness of people who include our hospitals when planning their estate.
